What connects the workI have never been very good at accepting the boundaries between subjects.
A question about business can become a question about politics or human behavior. A question about intelligence can lead to consciousness. I tend to follow the question, even when it takes me outside the field in which I started.
That habit connects my work as a founder, investor and writer. I am drawn to systems that are difficult to see clearly, to assumptions that have gone unexamined, and to problems that sit between established disciplines.
Building a company means making decisions before all the information is available. Writing gives me the space to stay with a question longer. Both require me to distinguish what I know from what I have merely come to expect.
My interests have moved from markets and technology toward power, consciousness, freedom, existence and God. I do not expect every inquiry to end in certainty. I want to follow the reasoning far enough to see where my own conclusions need to change.
